Interview with a teacher

I: I understand that you have been a teacher for ten years, is that right?
T: Yes, and during that time I think that schools have become much more dangerous places.
I. So, what can we do to make schools safer?
T: Well, for a start, I think metal-detecting arches should be installed at the entrances to schools. Secondly, I think we should give all students lessons on knife crime, and the devastating consequences it can have.
I: I see. Do you think that teachers should also be allowed to search students for weapons?
T: No, I don't. I think this would damage the relationship between teachers and students, because these will think that teachers do not trust them. I think we need to think of other ways to make our schools safe, crime-free places.
I: Thank you very much for sharing your views.
T: My pleasure.
